We must get the content to the user, and we must do it fast. In a world constantly moving, getting a site loaded in under 1000ms is key to keeping users on your site, and engaged with your content. This is not a new idea, and the 1000ms barrier has been written about, presented, talked about in web circles for a while now--- but how do we actually do it?

Working on a Drupal site, how can we decrease bloat on a page, to get our site delivered to the user quickly and efficiently. What steps can we take to decrease that first hit, so a page is available as soon as possible, especially for a mobile user.

This talk will go over the tech, and the basics of the TCP protocol so you understand where the lag is in presenting a web page. It will describe the modules any frontend developer can use to help in presenting their content, and frontend techniques that can be applied by advanced themes to make your site the fastest on the net.

The Drupal 8 Configuration Management Initiative (CMI) is a straight up game changer for Drupal development and deployment. As much as we all love doing it live, no longer will this kind of human powered configuration replay in production be necessary. Instead, developers will be able to natively export their configuration to code and deploy that configuration to production using the CMI tools.

This session will feature both a basic overview for how CMI will work in Drupal 8 and an advanced overview of how to use CMI with version control as part of a managed development -> testing -> production workflow. Hace más de un año, la compañía que represento se dispuso implementar el trabajo remoto o descentralizado y desde entonces nos hemos convertido en abanderados de este modelo.

Este cambio representa muchos beneficios pero no está exento de retos y desafíos, los cuales hemos ido moldeando para hacer que el modelo trabaje en beneficio de todas las partes.

Durante la sesión se estarán explorando las técnicas y herramientas que utilizamos en Anexus IT para trabajar de forma descentralizada, además de las herramientas que han venido a mejorar cada uno de nuestros procesos.

Parte de la presentación cubre el cómo ha cambiado el estilo de vida de los colaboradores de la empresa y los ajustes que han tenido que hacer para amoldarse al modelo.

Being a professional in the Drupal community often keeps one focused on only the highest technology and focused on the present and future. And while the future is rushing towards us at what feels like a faster and faster pace, sometimes taking a breath and looking at where we are positioned in the context of the past and at the nexus of cultural history can be a healthy moment to pause on what this means and how we can move into the future while not forgetting the past.

As Drupal 8 is refined and the future beta release shepherded by a dedicated group of core developers including specifically the D8 multi-lingual in core initiative, Drupal is arguably the only one truly globalized open source CMS. Drupal powers an every growing scope of the internet including academic institutions, Fortune 500 platforms, grassroots election sites and activist portals - and the global potential for intercultural collaboration and use cases will only continue to grow was Multi-lingual becomes a first class in-core citizen.

Based on recent talks around the same theme in DrupalCamp Mexico, Drupal Picchu, Drupal Camp Costa Rica and BADcamp, I’ll talk about how some indigenous philosophical traditions actually presage and inform many technical and community development best practices, strategies and techniques.

When I first saw Drupal back in 4.7 while working at an indigenous rights non-profit, I had a sense that this tool and community was going to be crucial to communication and knowledge frameworks that are critical for the future of our planet. Sitting in the end user and content camp for much of Drupal’s development cycle, I’ve been an observer and early ‘beta tester’ of some of the key modules like Views (now in core). As we are on the cusp of seeing so many improvements to the experience and the adoption grow globally a lot of why I stuck with Drupal is now coming to fruition.

This is Drupal. What we have to start from and the biggest asset that Drupal has is the incredible community of people that develop it's core, use it to get their content to the world make it easy to host, consult on strategies and share approaches with others through an international network of events & trainings.

We need to widen our scope of what this thing can do - and how we build ontologies, process, and set the tone of the true innovation around content collaboration, editing, developer experience and community collaboration to continue to iterate and grow.

I want to inspire and educate developers and others in the community with both how technology can really help with the “original” grass roots movements of indigenous peoples, as well as share the surprisingly relevant and useful ancient wisdom that many of these indigenous cultures are for the first time able to share with global audiences through very modern technologies such as Drupal. As technology evolves, we need to ensure that internet culture and indeed global culture is evolved with it as much as eroded by it.

Ahora que estamos en la cúspide de ver tantas mejoras y un crecimiento en la adopción de la herramienta, muchas de las razones de porqué me quedé con Drupal dan sus frutos.

Esto es Drupal. El mayor activo que Drupal tiene es la increíble comunidad de personas que desarrollan su core, lo utilizan para brindar su contenido al mundo que sea fácil de adoptar, celebrar consultas sobre las estrategias y acción acerca de otros a través de una organización internacional que cuenta con una red de eventos y capacitaciones.

Tenemos que ampliar nuestro alcance de lo que puede hacer esta cosa - y la forma en que construimos ontologías, proceso, y establecer el tono de la verdadera innovación en torno a la colaboración de contenidos, edición, experiencia del desarrollador y la colaboración de la comunidad a seguir para recorrer y crecer.

Quiero inspirar y educar a los desarrolladores y otros en la comunidad tanto en cómo la tecnología puede realmente ayudar con el movimiento "original" de los pueblos indígenas, así como compartir la sabiduría antigua sorprendentemente relevante y útil que muchas de estas culturas indígenas son por primera vez capaces de compartir con el público mundial a través de tecnologías modernas como Drupal.
