In this case we want to highlight different aspects of building an intranet with Drupal in an Hybrid Cloud environment for a Large Brazil Retailer from the technical point of view to the management issues.

First, we will show how it was important to use a distribution like Open Atrium to reassure Drupal as the way to go. We will also show the problems we had and how we handled them.

We also had another challenge: this project is the first case using an hybrid cloud inside this client. As it is normal for a large retailer, all their systems, including their Active Directory, could not be opened for external access. So, how can we integrate with them, being on Amazon cloud? Thats where SAML entered in the game! Its very nice to understand how this protocol worked like a charm, solving the authentication and authorizaton problems without even having access to their servers!

The last technical challenge was putting a big project like an intranet, with lots of functionalities, to work for more than 150k users! We will talk about APC, Memcache, AuthCache and Drupal optimizing.

In the last part, we would like to talk about the experience leading with such a big client, which makes impossible to impose an agile management and how we learned to lead with them.
